the urban living capsule
a house project
During this project we studied the process of designing a home. We were asked to build a singular living area that combines all the necessary components of a house by combining three modular volumes measuring 3.60 x 4.80 x 2.40 meters.

Clay workshop.
clay
The client, a clay sculptor, envisions her home as a space where she can both live and host clients in her connected studio. The consistent color and texture of the walls, floors, and furnishings are inspired by the texture of clay. Curves and rounded edges reflect the softness of clay while adding to a seamless atmosphere. Natural wood doors and counters are used to add warmth to the space. Large windows allow for natural light to enter the space.

Spatial organisation.
ventilation
Good ventilation is crucial in order to have a kiln in your home. The combustion could be harmful if inhaled for a longer period of time.
The studio is equipped with large windows and sliding doors to be able to ventilate fully. The kiln is positioned as close to the openings as possible, following current regulations.
The living area is designed to be as open as possible to let air flow freely. The location of the bedroom is also carefully considered - as far away from the workshop as possible to limit exposure to potentially harmful toxic during the night.
