concrete jungle

a retail space for Aesop

I was asked to design a retail space as if skincare brand Aesop were to launch a new product range - women's underwear.

Aesop’s brand identity is characterised by a combination of science and design. They offer luxurious products with a minimalistic aesthetic, always promoting transparency in regards to ingredients and formulas.

broken walls symbolise transparency and honesty, revealing what is on the inside.

transparency

Transparency is central to Aesop's values, reflected in their open ingredient disclosure.

This concept is reflected in the design through the use of raw concrete and exposed corrugated bars, revealing the construction process of a concrete wall. By incorporating these elements, the space visually communicates transparency and authenticity.

different levels of transparency

Cashier area to the right - fitting rooms to the left. Fitting rooms are hidden behind an opaque glass wall to give privacy to customers and to reinforce the concept of transparency.

custom details

As a part of this project I chose to design custom hangers that would fit with the concept and still display the project in the best way possible.
